Unity4Kids Places 2nd in The Best of Rockbridge!
We are so honored and grateful — Unity4Kids has been recognized as a 2nd place winner in The Best of Rockbridge, as voted on by our community through The News-Gazette! This recognition means the world to us because it comes directly from the people we serve and the neighbors who stand beside us every day. None of this would be possible without our incredible volunteers, donors, partners, and the entire Rockbridge community who believe in our mission. Rockbridge Area Prevention Coalition Honors Tammy Reid
Rockbridge Area Prevention Coalition recognized Tammy Reid, Director of Unity4Kids, for diligent prevention work in the community and as a community leader. This recognition reflects Tammy's tireless dedication to the families and children of Rockbridge County and her commitment to building a stronger, healthier community for all.
Mental Health Bags for Local High Schools — SCA Students Lead the Way!
September is Suicide Prevention Month, and Unity4Kids partnered with Rockbridge Area Health Center and Rockbridge Area Community Services to distribute mental health bags to our local high schools. Each bag was filled with healthy snacks, water, encouraging notes, mental health resources, journals, and positive reinforcement materials. SCA students joined the project and personally delivered the bags to classmates they felt could use a little encouragement. It was a beautiful reminder that when young people are empowered to look out for one another, the impact is profound. We are so grateful to RAHC, RACSB, and the incredible SCA students who made this happen!
BARC Electric Cooperative Features Unity4Kids in Cooperative Living Magazine!
Unity4Kids was honored to be featured in the October 2026 issue of Cooperative Living magazine, published by BARC Electric Cooperative. The article, "Cooperation in Action: Powering Our Community First," highlights BARC Electric and BARC Connects' partnership with Unity4Kids — from hosting a charity golf tournament at Cliff View Golf Course in Falling Springs that raised over $2,500 for our mission, to BARC Connects volunteers going above and beyond at the Pack the Bus event to ensure children received classroom materials, fresh haircuts, and brand-new shoes. BARC also stepped in to provide sports cleats when a local youth sports group faced a shortage of gear, keeping young athletes on the field. We are deeply grateful to BARC Electric Cooperative, BARC Connects, and their mascot Butch for their ongoing commitment to our community's children and families!
Suicide Prevention Forum — Virginia Horse Center
On September 15th, Unity4Kids hosted a Suicide Prevention Forum at the Virginia Horse Center Mezzanine, featuring guest speaker Wayne Handley. Local organizations joined us in attendance, including RACSB, RAHC, Carilion, Rockbridge Recovery, Connections Plus, and Project Horizon. One of the evening's most powerful moments came when an attendee felt moved to speak openly, sharing that he had been struggling with thoughts of suicide. The room responded with immediate support and compassion — a reminder of exactly why this event exists, and proof that when a community shows up for one another, no one has to face those struggles alone.
New Partnership with Campus Kitchen!
We are thrilled to announce a new partnership with Campus Kitchen! Campus Kitchen will be preparing meals for our Lexington meal deliveries, bringing fresh, nourishing food to families in our community. This exciting collaboration strengthens our ability to serve those in need and reflects the power of local organizations working together. We are so grateful to the Campus Kitchen team for their dedication and generosity!
Pack the Bus 2026 — In Partnership with Rockbridge County Public Schools & Walmart!
Unity4Kids was proud to participate in the August 2026 Pack the Bus event in partnership with Rockbridge County Public Schools and Walmart. This community-wide school supply drive helps ensure that every child in our area heads back to school fully equipped and ready to learn. Pack the Bus is a powerful reminder of what our community can accomplish when we come together for our kids — and we are grateful to Rockbridge County Public Schools and Walmart for making it happen!
